Calm My Anxious Heart Giveaway

Image
It's almost Christmas!! And because I love Christmas time and I love my WHEW Tribe, I'm giving away this book!! What better way to kick off the new year than by doing a 12 week Bible study about worry and contentment! Here is what Christianbook.com has to say about it: "Women worry a lot. We fret about our children, our friends, our careers, our spouses---the list goes on and on! If you're tired of being held hostage to a million "what ifs," Dillow's 12-week Bible study will provide the help you need to exchange your anxieties for godly peace and contentment." I know this book was published several years ago, but if you haven't read it yet, I think it's an excellent study.  So, I'd like to share it with one of you.  Use the Rafflecopter below to enter.  I will announce the winner on my Facebook page on December 23, 2016. a Rafflecopter giveaway If the widget above does not work

Rekindling the Fire

Image
Sometimes it's easy to get caught up in the usual, ordinary tasks of our everyday life and let the romance in our marriage take a back seat.  Well, it is for me anyway. I have a tendency to be a task oriented person and although that helps get my to-do list done, it can also mean that I don't take time to work on relationships (with my husband or my children). It isn't that I don't love them or spend time with them, but I often forget to put in that extra effort. You know, that extra effort that goes beyond just taking care of their everyday needs. That extra effort of little things that can make a big difference and really show them they are important to me. More important than my to do list. I've been married 19 years and we have a great marriage! But in those 19 years I've learned that keeping the fire going takes work.  It takes that extra effort - but it's so worth it! Rekindling the fire can make a good marriag

Live in the Moment Mama

Image
As a mama of teenagers, I want to encourage all the mamas of littles in something- Mama, these moments won't last forever. So don't forget to live in this moment. I know it can be hard, especially when you've changed your third dirty diaper of the day or you just had to comb snot out of your hair. Let's not forget the dog poo that got tracked across the floor or the cheerio floating in your coffee. (At least it isn't the other way around, right?!) I'm not going to pretend that every moment of motherhood is wonderful.  It's not. It can be hard. Really hard. But it's also wonderful. It's full of slobber kisses and squeezy hugs. It's a time for snuggles and bedtime stories. It's full of giggles, tickles and zerberts. Mama, I know you get tired. I know that your babies need you every single minute of the day and sometimes you'd give anything for a moment of quiet. Just quiet. Just you and your

Sometimes I Don't Like Serving Others

Image
I don't always enjoy serving others. There, I said it out loud.  I hate it. I hate that I sometimes I take on the role of Martha when she whined to the Lord - I have thought this same thing so many times. Don't they see me doing all this work? Why are they not helping? Why am I the one that always has to _________?  It's ugly. Those thoughts are ugly and selfish. But I have them. Not all the time, but I wish it was never.  I wish that I would serve everyone, all of the time without one single thought of myself. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Phil 2:3 I'm trying. Really I am. When I feel those thoughts coming up, I try very hard to quiet them. I try to remember these scriptures. I remind myself what a blessing it is to be able to serve and to have others to serve. I started writing in my prayer journal what kind of woman I want to be and verses

Why WHEW Tribe?

Image
Hey friends! I'm so excited! Today I officially launch WHEW Tribe!   I thought this would be the perfect time to share with you why I started WHEW Tribe and how it came about.  About a year ago I felt God leading me to start a new blog; I had been blogging at Rashel's Run for several years already, but really felt I was to start fresh. So after much prayer I started Breathing Authenticity and started learning all about how to start a blog, the best platforms, etc. Well, that was my first mistake - going to the world for direction instead of God. I should have listened more to how He wanted me to do it, not what the world said I needed to do to have a successful blog. I won't bore you with every detail, but let's just say that God was not in that blog. I paid for my own domain name, I signed up on a new platform and I started writing. It was a struggle. I'm not talking about getting people to my blog, I'm talking everything. I didn't know the p

Don't Let Others Hold You Back

Image
Do you have dreams? Are there things you would love to do? Or new things you would love to try, but you worry what others might think?  Sometimes it can be hard to try new things, really hard. We can get so comfortable with the way things are that we just aren't sure we should shake things up. But we should sometimes. Shake. Shake. Shake! And we should do it without worrying about what others are going to think about it. It is good to have dreams! It is fabulous to want to try new things and set new goals. Fabulous!! It doesn't mean we aren't content with what we have. It doesn't mean we aren't super thankful for the blessings we have. I believe God wants us to be adventurous. I believe He gave us that adventurous spirit. Imagine if no one ever followed their dreams and tried new things. We wouldn't have computers or cell phones. We wouldn't have the internet or even be able to fly!

There's No Shame In Starting Over

Image
I think sometimes when we fall behind in something, or completely fall off the wagon, it's easy for us to just give up. We start thinking it would be easier if we just quit altogether. We listen to the little voice that tells us we failed, so why even bother trying again. Sometimes things happen and we get off track with our goals and plans. I want you to know it's okay . Sometimes we fall behind just out of laziness, it happens. Don't beat yourself up about it and don't listen to that little voice telling you that you will just fail again. That voice is a liar.

When You Look Them in the Eyes

Image
Are you guilty like me? I have a tendency to glance at people, even when I am speaking with someone. I can't say I  always  look someone in the eye, do you? I have a horrible habit of not giving the person my full attention when we are talking. But do you know what happens when you look someone in the eye, you make them feel special. Even if it is just for that brief moment of conversation, they feel noticed. Listened too. Respected. I really am trying to be better at this. I know how important it is and I'm working on it. As God's children we are called to love others and if we can't even take the time to look them in the eye, are we really loving them? If I'm talking to someone and the whole time they are looking around the room, paying attention to other conversations and checking out what everyone else is doing, I certainly don't feel like my conversation with them is important. Yet, I've been guilty of this very thing many times. Thank God for grace

Tips From a Seasoned Trim Healthy Mama

Image
I started my  Trim Healthy Mama  journey in August 2013, wow, that is 3 years ago!! As I look back on my journey, I can see I've learned a lot along the way. A LOT! I want to share a few of those things with you and maybe make your journey a little easier. To be very honest, at first I rejected Trim Healthy Mama. I had already learned and applied proper food combining principles and it sounded very similar to me - from what I could read online without actually purchasing the book. I ignored it for months after I'd first heard about it. Then I don't even remember what it was, but something made me buy the book. I joined the Facebook group and started learning what I could while waiting on my book to arrive. Waiting very impatiently, I might add. I'm so thankful I bought the book. I learned so much from that first book and it made SO MUCH sense. Yes, it was similar to proper food combining, but different enough that it really made more sense to me. I never could qu
